Councillor Paul Young seeks re-election with the message: ‘Time to stop talking and get East Auckland moving.’
The entrepreneur won the seat in last year’s by-election, becoming the city's first Chinese councillor.
His priority: quality public transport with trackless trams running on rubber wheels on streets with all the best features of light rail and none of the worst, such as emissions, while serving more passengers for far less investment.
On his other priority, law and order, Paul supports ever more CCTV cameras to both deter and help solve crime.
As an Asian-Kiwi, he wants to ensure new immigrants integrate into our community while ensuring we all benefit from their contribution.
And he will never tire of ensuring East Auckland ratepayers get their fair share of funding.
All from a man who has lived in the area for thirty years.
Paul Young seeks election to the Health Board determined to ensure better care for all with an emphasis on making Middlemore Hospital a world-class facility with more beds.
The entrepreneur is also standing again for Auckland Council in Howick, a seat he won in last year’s by-election, becoming the city's first Chinese councillor.
His interest in health comes from the experience of witnessing the care given his 93-year-old father who is now in a rest home.
“I watched as his doctor and nurses gave him the sort of care you could only dream of,” says Paul.
That was all the encouragement he needed to stand for the Health Board with a determination to support those health professionals while pressing for better facilities for the ever growing population in an area where he and his family have lived for thirty years
Thanks to our caring doctors and nurses.
The last few weeks have been a difficult time for our family as we nursed my mother through her ?nal days. Now she is ?nally at peace, I would like to give our sincere thanks to all who gave such warm and caring support thorough this difficult time.
I would also like to recognise the extraordinary kindness and care the doctors and nursing sta? at both the Middlemore and Lansdowne hospitals took in looking after my dear mother,Mrs young Liu.
Such support from you all to both her and ourselves was so much appreciated as it came in the midst of my standing for re-election to Auckland Council for Howick and also seeking a position on the Counties Manukau District Health Board.
My mum did what mums do and encouraged me to press on but none of us could leave her bedside. During that time I learned from the extraordinary support we received why I love and care for the community that has been home to my family for more than thirty years.
Having spent over two weeks observing, experiencing and talking to those wonderful doctors and nurses I now have a very close insight into our hospital system and the issues they face.
I hope to bring the same dedication to the Health Board and as a Howick Ward Councillor if re-elected.
Councillor Paul Young
